Fortunately, BULK POWDERS™ brings you Super Pea Protein Isolate, enabling you to add quality protein to your diet, with a highly soluble Pea Protein shake at Europe’s lowest price!

BULK POWDERS™ Super-Pea Protein Isolate is a natural yellow, pea based protein with unrivalled taste, solubility and quality. It is a ‘2nd Generation’ Pea Protein Isolate that has been specifically formulated for the BULK POWDERS™ range! We tested numerous samples in our quest for the ultimate pea protein, and decided that Super-Pea Protein Isolate was head and shoulders above the competition. It is primarily aimed at vegans’ who are looking to increase their protein consumption, but are limited when it comes to high-quality protein sources. Super-Pea is also popular amongst non-vegans, due to its excellent product profile.

    Why use Super-Pea Protein Isolate?

We believe that BULK POWDERS™ Super-Pea Protein Isolate is the ‘ultimate’ pea protein isolate. Take a look for yourself:

    • It has the highest solubility (up to 50% higher) of any pea protein on the market.
    • It tastes as neutral as peas can taste. Whereas other pea proteins are almost unpalatable, Super-Pea is perfectly drinkable on its own.
    • It is 100% GMO Free! Many other pea proteins are not.
    • Each serving provides you with 80% protein. Other pea proteins on the market contain a significantly lower protein percentage and are sold at a higher price.
    • It is spray dried and granulated for easy dispersability.
    • It is suitable for vegans and vegetarians and is also Halal and Kosher certified.
    • Its amino acid profile is unrivalled amongst pea proteins, in fact it is very close to the human ideal.
    • It is a rich source of important nutrients such as BCAAs, glutamine, arginine and lysine; which are important for performance, growth and recovery.
    • It has 97% digestibility, very similar to that of animal-based proteins.
    • It contains no artificial flavours or sweeteners.
    • It contains no lactose, cholesterol or gluten.
    • It is clearly the ultimate pea protein, yet we still offer it to you at the lowest price in Europe.

    • Cranberry juice

I bought this product about a week ago. The best thing to mask the God awful taste is cranberry juice. 200-250 ml per 35g protein. I would stir rather than shake. It is too heavy otherwise. A few swigs and it is gone.

    • Excellent for my needs

I've setup a repeat order for this 5kg bag on Amazon. The only dislike I have is the bag is so damn hard to reseal as noted by others! I use this because I'm dieting to lose weight and I put a scoop in the blender. The pea taste is very overwhelming despite what you mix with it. I usually go for 200ml of water, 2 bananas, 1 small handful of spinach, and to disguise the pea taste I'll use one of the following 1. A lime. 2 a lemon. 3 a Braeburn apple. Adding any one of them to my smoothie completely eliminates the pea taste. Mostly for cost reasons I stick to the apple. So for 2 bananas, a handful of spinach, 200ml water and a scoop of this powder roughly sticks to just under 500 calories for a meal. I find the protein really helps stop you feeling hungry for a long time! So for me this product is perfect for trying to diet and eat healthy (not sure smoothies count as eating). Extremely happy with and will continue to buy.

    • GREAT FOR MASKING CLA, HMB, GLUTAMINE OR OTHER FOUL TASTING SUPPLEMENTS.

This stuff is great when mixing with other stuff. I find that on its own, it is too thick but mixed with other stuff its awesome!

I find the WHEY ISOLATE flavours, chocolate etc to sweet so I use the pea whey to neutralise the taste.

I also add a mixture of 5g HMB and CLA, or GLUTAMINE and EAA raw powders and the it drowns out the awful taste.

    • Savoury mixers for pea protein

If you try to fight the pea flavour with fruit or milk, you will lose. As other reviewers have said, savoury is the way to go. But what is portable enough for the gym, and cheap and easy? I say tinned Tesco economy pea and ham soup, Tesco chicken and vegetable curry (49p and quite good) and La Doria ratatouille. All these have strong savoury flavours that the pea protein actually complements. It thickens any liquid, so you will be spooning these, not drinking them, but they will go in a shake mug and you won't look like one of those changing-room diners who break out the tupperwear and quinoa.

I never liked whey. I suspect it for giving me fatigue symptoms. This pea stuff is grand.

      christian on 06/02/2015
    • Great when you getting it to taste nice!

Gave this as a go as normally get whey protein. Tried a variety of mixtures as I'd typically do with whey which blends in nicely with all sorts... this however tastes like peas! BUT, I've found what works for me, 100ml semi-skim milk, more water (the stuff is thick!), banana, blueberries or strawberries, honey, few sweeteners, and it tastes great! I have a sweet tooth so need to drown out the pea taste with sweetness.

It's quite heavy per scoop compared to whey and it's little like static filings the way it spikes out around the scoop, strange, but you'll see what I mean if you buy it.

    • Protein cup'a'soup.

Unsurprisingly the flavour does not react well with attempts to sweeten, a savoury solution works a for a natural palatable and easily consumed flavour, try mixing some stock, Bouillion, Bovril or even Marmite, alright maybe not Marmite, with hot water and the pea protein, for a sort of protein rich meaty, including with vegan Bouillion, tasting cup'a'soup. Takes no longer to make than a brew.

    • This is pea protein. It tastes like peas.

This is pea protein. It tastes like peas.

It's not quite as strong as the flavour of dehydrated peas but it's close. I also found it to be slightly salty.

i have found that the mouth taste can be disguised by adding a tablespoon of sweetener but I haven't found a way to disguise the nose. I just add the sweetener close off my nose and chug it down.

There is a fair amount of sodium in each serving so that might be something to consider if you are trying to avoid salt.

I bought this because it was so cheap. It remains to be seen whether I'll buy it again when this pouch runs out. I don't really like the taste and it's a bit of a chore to drink. The jury is still out on whether it's worth roughing it for the sake what is essentially half price protein when compared to whey.

    • Good product at a good price!!

Have been using this for a few months now. Very thick, not ideal for a shaker. I make smoothies with it and add some honey to sweeten.
A good source of protein and none of the sweet sugary taste of other protein powders.
Great dairy free protein, definitely recommended!!

    • Doesn't taste so bad

Having read the other reviews I was expecting this to taste aweful, but actually it hasn't got a very strong taste, it's just got a slightly nutty taste, so I make it in a shaker with 3 ice cubes and a dollop of peanut butter, ordered my smoothie maker this week so will be having it with fruit etc when that arrives, very good and cheap :)

      Daniel on 18/10/2014
    • Takes some getting used to.

First attempt at this was rank, the taste, texture, aftertaste.

After a week of getting used to it and getting the water ratio right this is the best protein I have used so far no bloat and noticable gains.

      Rhys on 13/08/2014
    • Nice in soup, yuck on its own

I needed something lactose free post workout, so I tried this with water and mixed it in a blender and it tasted awful, it made we wretch. So I decided to try it with tinned pea soup (heated on the hob), it mixed up quite thick so I added a little water and it was perfect and no funny taste. It has its place in my diet in soups and vegetable casseroles and is a worthy buy. You just need to be a little bit creative.

    • IT TASTES LIKE PEAS

That's right it's pea protein so naturally it tastes like peas. It's almost like drinking a cold pea smoothie. If you like the taste of peas you will love it, if not buy another type of vegan protein.

P.S. I'm not vegetarian, but am considering buying 5kg next time as it's actually cheaper than whey.....

    • Great alternative

Great quality product, have tried others elsewhere and this mixes better. Has a very earthy taste so needs to be combined with something to mask. But good quality product.

    • Amazing product:)

Amazing clean efficient vegan protein powder.

      Really good price.

Taste is totally neutral.not bad at all, just neutral, not everything has to taste like artificial candy.

This protein powder is actually healthy for your body and totally natural, non dairy, no artificial sweeteners.

Thank you for selling this great protein powder :)

      Coco on 28/02/2014
    • Earthy stuff!

I bought this protein as an alternative night-time protein to casein because I started taking ZMA caps (from BP) and it recommends no dairy. I have only taken it wilth water (as I take all supplements) and it has an earthiness to it that is akin to sprouted beans. Unlike other proteins it takes a little more effort to enjoy, but it is a good slow-release and doesn't bloat.

With its earthy flavour, I wonder if it might work well being added to a pea and mint soup or something like that to increase the protein of a lunch... just a thought.

Finally, I highly recommend a mixing ball with this purchase.

      Pete on 23/11/2013
    • Bad taste

I have had a fair few different protein shakes but never had a taste like this before makes me feel sick. I have tried it with milk and even floured milk it has taken the kick out of it a bit but not by much. Its good for protein but not on taste at all wont order it again but the website is still great and more than happy to order from it again.

      Adam on 14/11/2013
    • Very Strong Pea Taste!

I really shouldn't have been surprised by this, but this powder tasted very strongly of peas. Whilst I don't mind eating peas, peas in liquid form seemed to trigger repulsion in me for some reason. Once I'd thrown in some drinking cocoa to mask the taste, it was perfectly drinkable.

In terms of mixability, I had no problems there.

Conclusion: Be prepared for a proper pea hit when drinking unflavoured which some may be able to cope with but I couldn't. Praise be for flavourings! 4 Stars for not irritating my digestive system and the taste being maskable.

    • QUALITY AND VALUE FOR MONEY

If you want a good vegan source of protein at an excellent price, this Super Pea Isolate packs it all:

      - excellent value for money (half the price of regular concentrated whey)
      - higher protein content (leading brand has 74%; SPI rocks at 85%)
      - no bloating or farting

Still there's no beating around the bush or sugar coating: mixed with water the SPI tastes like dirt, pure and simple. Adding you favorite non-dairy drink instead might help but you can go around it by simply adding a few spoons of cinnamon - it's cheap, packs 0 kcal and has enough "zing" to cut that earthy taste into tolerance.

Also, do get a shaker with a wire ball, because it's not as soluble as regular whey.

      Tiago on 22/08/2013
    • Great neutral taste and honest price.

I love the fact that I can buy this unflavoured at an honest price!

I take 30gr first thing in the morning, 60gr after a workout and then 30gr before bed.

If you have a fast metabolism like me, pea protein is the way to go, since it's a slower digesting protein then whey (which only stays in your body for 2 hours).

      So great for skinny hardgainers!

      Oh, and 85% protein, awesome!

(I wish beef or chicken had this much, I would definitely save me money and I wouldn't have to force myself to eat as much!)

      Goku on 22/07/2013
    • Great!!!

At first it's a trial error thing, trying to get the right amount of water and or milk to make it drinkable but with a banana or other fruits you don't even notice the harsh taste that much and for the price the nutritional value is awesome.

      Fabio on 20/07/2013
    • Quality and Value for money

Having tried a few alternatives, I just got my first protein order from BP ... which was Super Pea Protein Isolate (unflavoured).

I read a few reviews here before ordering, and was a little apprehensive because it seemed like a number of reviewers were very unhappy about the taste in particular. I wanted a protein product that was good value for money, and I wasn't really too bothered about the taste as I often add fruit or other content that gives flavour..... and I see that BP have flavourings that can be added anyway.

Was I right to be apprehensive? Absolutely not!

This is a great product at a great price. Sure there is a slight flavour issue if you mix with water and nothing else ... but even that is only slight, and probably something you could acclimatize to quickly. Mixed with milk and fruit or other flavouring this makes a great shake that is easily digested and very satisfying.

Great work BP - looking forward to trying the rest of your products - I'm converted!

      Malcolm on 05/07/2013

Cheap compared to other proteins... after 2 years of use I say that it's a good product.

    • taste

First, the product delivers its purpose well.

Second, the taste can be easily dulled by adding fruits or cocoa powder to your milk/soy shake.

      Very satisfied.

    • Tastes so bad

People say how bad unflavoured whey protein tastes but I think that it tastes OK. This stuff honestly made me gag. The only way I can keep it down is by adding a flavouring system. Not ideal as it's pure sugar but better that than waste a huge bag of protein. Only buy if you have no taste buds!

      David on 18/03/2013
    • Better than egg?

A little scared to try this but i'm using egg white powder from here right now, which really is unpleasant (I just mix it with water and knock back the froth and shake). Thanks.

    • Tastes great with weetabix!

I usually drink it with water only. It doesn't solve very well and the taste is only tolerable (it grows on you, as they do). I like it mixed with soy milk — grainy taste. Mixed with weetabix and water, though... It's awesome!

      António on 27/02/2013
    • Pea-rrffect

I have been buying this for the last 18 months and of all the vegan proteins this is the easiest to mix and the tastiest.

I have it in smoothies with avocado, almonds, vanilla powder and stevia for a sweet dairy free smoothie and with yoghurt, stevia and mixed spice for a sweet pudding.

Great value and versatile, you just have to be a bit creative!

      Rachel on 21/01/2013
    • stop rattling on about the taste!

Its made from peas, so surprise it tastes like peas! so mix it with cold water otherwise you will basically be downing a pea milkshake. Otherwise it mixes well, represents excellent value and 30g of protein in a scoop using the suggested scoop for only 140cal! will be buying again!

      Dan on 08/01/2013
    • Great as a soup

I actually really like this product - I mix it as a hot soup with a teaspoon of vegan boullion powder (veggie stock).

The taste is nice as a savoury soup or similar. However, I'm not so keen on it in a smoothie or cold shaker drink.

A note on mixing: add a small amount of cold water first and mix as a paste, then add hot water. It becomes lumpy if you add the hot water directly to the powder.

      Vanessa on 05/10/2012
    • Make sure you can tolerate the sugars in this.

I bought this as it is now substantially cheaper than whey protein (which is frankly ridiculous now) and has a good amino acid profile (it is infact complete).

Taste is not too bad, deff tolerable but I noticed I was getting intense stomach pains and pretty bad bloating. Turns out that legumes contain certain sugars called raffinases which cannont be broken down by the human body. In small amounts and in most people this has no effect, but if you happen to be sensitive to it (like me) the effects are exactly like lactose intolerance. Ive had two weeks off from the gym because of this.

If you're thinking of changing this could be an excellent product but I advise you buy a small sample first to see if you can tolerate it.

      John on 02/10/2012
    • tastes so bad!!!

This protein tastes so bad i have found it unbearable even when adding flavouring so am going back to the whey protein which i can happily take without flavouring. Even with the flavourings bought from here i feel like being sick after every shake. Even the smell of the powder in my kitchen turns my stomach now. All good if you can take it but for me its unbearable.

    • Great non-dairy product.

As far as non-dairy protein powder goes, the taste is not so bad-like a watery vegetable soup. It is much more palatable than hemp for example: which has a grainy texture and overpowering grassy/woody taste. Nutritionally this stuff is excellent: low carb, low fat and containing all the essential amino acids. No stomach complaints of any kind and quite versatile for savory cooking too. Highly recommended!

      Ro on 18/05/2012
    • amazing for cooking

i first used it in shakes... it tastes not so great with oats and multifruit juice and I PREFER to use it as follows: i take a falafel recipe, then replace peas with pea protein and use as much egg white as i need to keep it runny. throw everything in a blender - Fry - Enjoy. kind of a falafel omelet ! =)
btw it thickens even more than 100% micellar casein.
if you plan to use it in shakes: the protein tends to thicken with a layer that seals the below lying protein from contact with the liquid and therefore may leave a clump. so you may have to shake VERY hard to mix everything.

      michael on 14/05/2012
    • Good If You Can Get Over The Taste

Tastes like runny peas pudding. Mixes ok and brilliant amino profile so will try and persevere. Am sure will get used to it in due course ...

    • So cheap!!!

I have been using whey for ages now in various mixes etc, eventually you end up spending stupid amounts of money on it (apprenticeship wages). Anyway, price-wise, brilliant, taste-wise, I dunno, its VERY savory, but after a week I have grown accustomed to it. The best thing I find about this product is that there is no bloat or unwell feelings after taking it! It just seems so much more 'natural' and far easier on the innards!

I will definitely buy more when I run out!

It mixes very easily in water, far better than whey. It has a very mild flavour, so nothing to be concerned about. I actually got used to the flavour very quickly, and even enjoy it now! And it's great for making soup! I'm starting to prefer this over whey protein, taking all aspects into account.

To be honest, it tastes nice, slightly on the pea side but nothing to complain about. Great price for a great product. I particularly do not like to eat too much animal protein (google: chinese study)so this is an amazing alternative veg protein and great value for money. • No more Whey for me!

I'm surprised many people find the taste horrible. I have no problems whatsoever with it. You could even eat the powder without any liquid imo. Just mix it with milk and some chocolatemilk and it's delicious! Add some WMS or oats and it's a decent wake-up meal or light meal for in between larger meals. The price is also significantly lower than whey protein. For me it's the new ultimate protein!

    • Great product.

After a decade of using whey, became a Vegan and switched to this Mix a stock cube or water from your veges if you're trying to cut out salt and it tastes great as soup. Or you can add a little warm (not hot!) water make into a paste add olive oil (salt/pepper if desired) and eat with a sweet potato.
      \
      \
Mix with water and a few tsp of rice milk and knock it back. It's just as versatile as whey imo, and it's amino acid profile makes it a great option for vegans.

So, it's cheap and nutritionally good. It also mixes very well and its texture is pleasant. What's the downside? Its taste. While not rank (much better than CEE), I can't down it without adding flavor. I usually do as follows: 10g of branded/chocolate flavored (strongly flavored at that) wpc + 10g of bulk wpc + 10g super-pea protein iso. I tired it like this and with more bulk wpc and less pea protein and still thought it tasted a bit nasty, so I ended up having to add 2~3 drops of BP's own LiquiFlav Chocolate (which btw rocks!).

So, it's cheap, it's good, tastes a bit nasty. Still 5 stars all-round because I wasn't conned and knew what I was buying, though I'd give it 3 stars taste-wise.

    • What a surprise!

I ordered those proteins just to try them, in search of a possible source of veg. protein beside soj. At first I did not know how to use them (there's a delicate but pervasive taste of peas, of course, that doesn't mix well with other tastes).
      \
Then I simply mixed them with some water, adding very little salt and olive oil, and voila, an excellent cream, tasting halfway btw. peas and peanuts: even my wife enjoyed it! the only risk is to overeat them! Otherwise the only cooking options that come to my mind are adding them to a soup, in particular a pea soup.

Good taste, total solubility, very good amino balance. I strongly recommend this product (espec. in the evening) to balance the excess animal proteins that the typical bb. usually takes in.

    • Not bothered about the taste

To be honest, it tastes nice, slightly on the pea side but nothing to complain about. Great price for a great product. I particularly do not like to eat too much animal protein (google: chinese study)so this is an amazing alternative veg protein and great value for money. I tried it Mixed with banana and milk and it was delicious. I am a fan of this company already!

      \
Mix with water and a few tsp of rice milk and knock it back. It's just as versatile as whey imo, and it's amino acid profile makes it a great option for vegans.

    • Tastes bad, but

The taste is one of the worst I've had, it's really not good, but it's pretty easy to mask if you mix it with fruit etc
      \
      \
Aside from that, it's a genuinely excellent product.

    • Exactly what I expected

OK so it doesn't taste good, but thats what you expect from a plant protein that hasn't had any sweeteners added.
      \
      \
I've got used to the taste, I just mix it with water and its fine for me. You could probably add some juice or blend it with some fruit.

A great alternative to whey. I recommend it.

    • Excellent protein powder

Dissolves well in a fruit smoothie, and I enjoy the taste! Slightly nutty flavour which is not as strong as other similar products I have tried such as Vegan 90+. In fact I much prefer this to the branded stuff. Excellent value for money.

    • Terrible taste

The smell, taste and structure are disgusting. I can get used to a lot of products, but this is horrible.

The best way to mix it up is with Orange Juice. But even better is serving this for petfood.

    • Cheap but tastes funky

It is possible to disguise the taste of this powder in fruit smoothies. There is still a slight taste but it is more than bearable.

Would have liked a tub that was easier to get into.
