It is a ‘2nd Generation’ Pea Protein Isolate that has been specifically formulated for the BP Basics range! We tested numerous samples in our quest for the ultimate pea protein, and decided that Super-Pea Protein Isolate was head and shoulders above the competition. It is primarily aimed at vegans’ who are looking to increase their protein consumption, but are limited when it comes to high-quality protein sources. Super-Pea is also popular amongst non-vegans, due to its excellent product profile.
Why use Super-Pea Protein Isolate?
We believe that BP Basics Super-Pea Protein Isolate is the ‘ultimate’ pea protein isolate. Take a look for yourself:
- It has the highest solubility (up to 50% higher) of any pea protein on the market.
- It tastes as neutral as peas can taste. Whereas other pea proteins are almost unpalatable, Super-Pea is perfectly drinkable on its own.

- It is spray dried and granulated for easy dispersability.
- It is suitable for vegans and vegetarians and is also Halal and Kosher certified.
- Its amino acid profile is unrivalled amongst pea proteins, in fact it is very close to the human ideal.
- It is a rich source of important nutrients such as BCAAs, glutamine, arginine and lysine; which are important for performance, growth and recovery.
- It has 97% digestibility, very similar to that of animal-based proteins.
- It contains no artificial flavours or sweeteners.
- It contains no lactose, cholesterol or gluten.
- It is clearly the ultimate pea protein, yet we still offer it to you at the lowest price in Europe.

First, the product delivers its purpose well.
Second, the taste can be easily dulled by adding fruits or cocoa powder to your milk/soy shake.

Tastes so bad
Rating
People say how bad unflavoured whey protein tastes but I think that it tastes OK. This stuff honestly made me gag. The only way I can keep it down is by adding a flavouring system. Not ideal as it's pure sugar but better that than waste a huge bag of protein. Only buy if you have no taste buds! On 18/03/2013 David said... -
Better than egg?

A little scared to try this but i'm using egg white powder from here right now, which really is unpleasant (I just mix it with water and knock back the froth and shake). Thanks. On 06/03/2013 Matt said... -
Tastes great with weetabix!
Rating
I usually drink it with water only. It doesn't solve very well and the taste is only tolerable (it grows on you, as they do). I like it mixed with soy milk — grainy taste. Mixed with weetabix and water, though... It's awesome! On 27/02/2013 António said... -
Pea-rrffect

I have been buying this for the last 18 months and of all the vegan proteins this is the easiest to mix and the tastiest.
I have it in smoothies with avocado, almonds, vanilla powder and stevia for a sweet dairy free smoothie and with yoghurt, stevia and mixed spice for a sweet pudding.
Great value and versatile, you just have to be a bit creative!

stop rattling on about the taste!

Its made from peas, so surprise it tastes like peas! so mix it with cold water otherwise you will basically be downing a pea milkshake. Otherwise it mixes well, represents excellent value and 30g of protein in a scoop using the suggested scoop for only 140cal! will be buying again! On 08/01/2013 Dan said... -
Great as a soup
Rating
I actually really like this product - I mix it as a hot soup with a teaspoon of vegan boullion powder (veggie stock).
The taste is nice as a savoury soup or similar. However, I'm not so keen on it in a smoothie or cold shaker drink.
A note on mixing: add a small amount of cold water first and mix as a paste, then add hot water. It becomes lumpy if you add the hot water directly to the powder. On 05/10/2012 Vanessa said... -
Make sure you can tolerate the sugars in this.
Rating
I bought this as it is now substantially cheaper than whey protein (which is frankly ridiculous now) and has a good amino acid profile (it is infact complete).
Taste is not too bad, deff tolerable but I noticed I was getting intense stomach pains and pretty bad bloating. Turns out that legumes contain certain sugars called raffinases which cannont be broken down by the human body. In small amounts and in most people this has no effect, but if you happen to be sensitive to it (like me) the effects are exactly like lactose intolerance. Ive had two weeks off from the gym because of this.
If you're thinking of changing this could be an excellent product but I advise you buy a small sample first to see if you can tolerate it. On 02/10/2012 John said... -

This protein tastes so bad i have found it unbearable even when adding flavouring so am going back to the whey protein which i can happily take without flavouring. Even with the flavourings bought from here i feel like being sick after every shake. Even the smell of the powder in my kitchen turns my stomach now. All good if you can take it but for me its unbearable. On 29/09/2012 lee biagi said... -

Great non-dairy product.
Rating
As far as non-dairy protein powder goes, the taste is not so bad-like a watery vegetable soup. It is much more palatable than hemp for example: which has a grainy texture and overpowering grassy/woody taste. Nutritionally this stuff is excellent: low carb, low fat and containing all the essential amino acids. No stomach complaints of any kind and quite versatile for savory cooking too. Highly recommended! On 18/05/2012 Ro said... -
amazing for cooking
Rating
i first used it in shakes... it tastes not so great with oats and multifruit juice and I PREFER to use it as follows: i take a falafel recipe, then replace peas with pea protein and use as much egg white as i need to keep it runny. throw everything in a blender - Fry - Enjoy. kind of a falafel omelet ! =)
btw it thickens even more than 100% micellar casein.
if you plan to use it in shakes: the protein tends to thicken with a layer that seals the below lying protein from contact with the liquid and therefore may leave a clump. so you may have to shake VERY hard to mix everything. On 14/05/2012 michael said... -

I have been using whey for ages now in various mixes etc, eventually you end up spending stupid amounts of money on it (apprenticeship wages). Anyway, price-wise, brilliant, taste-wise, I dunno, its VERY savory, but after a week I have grown accustomed to it. The best thing I find about this product is that there is no bloat or unwell feelings after taking it! It just seems so much more 'natural' and far easier on the innards!
I will definitely buy more when I run out! On 21/04/2012 Kyle Smith said... -

It mixes very easily in water, far better than whey. It has a very mild flavour, so nothing to be concerned about. I actually got used to the flavour very quickly, and even enjoy it now! And it's great for making soup! I'm starting to prefer this over whey protein, taking all aspects into account. On 17/04/2012 Lou said... -

I'm surprised many people find the taste horrible. I have no problems whatsoever with it. You could even eat the powder without any liquid imo. Just mix it with milk and some chocolatemilk and it's delicious! Add some WMS or oats and it's a decent wake-up meal or light meal for in between larger meals. The price is also significantly lower than whey protein. For me it's the new ultimate protein! On 11/04/2012 Anonymous said... -

So, it's cheap and nutritionally good. It also mixes very well and its texture is pleasant. What's the downside? Its taste. While not rank (much better than CEE), I can't down it without adding flavor. I usually do as follows: 10g of branded/chocolate flavored (strongly flavored at that) wpc + 10g of bulk wpc + 10g super-pea protein iso. I tired it like this and with more bulk wpc and less pea protein and still thought it tasted a bit nasty, so I ended up having to add 2~3 drops of BP's own LiquiFlav Chocolate (which btw rocks!).

So, it's cheap, it's good, tastes a bit nasty. Still 5 stars all-round because I wasn't conned and knew what I was buying, though I'd give it 3 stars taste-wise. On 11/04/2012 Andre C. Silva said... -

I ordered those proteins just to try them, in search of a possible source of veg. protein beside soj. At first I did not know how to use them (there's a delicate but pervasive taste of peas, of course, that doesn't mix well with other tastes).

Then I simply mixed them with some water, adding very little salt and olive oil, and voila, an excellent cream, tasting halfway btw. peas and peanuts: even my wife enjoyed it! the only risk is to overeat them! Otherwise the only cooking options that come to my mind are adding them to a soup, in particular a pea soup.
