What are Psyllium Husks?
Psyllium husks are a highly soluble and convenient source of dietary fibre. Please note that this product is psyllium husk powder, a finely ground version of psyllium husks and by far the most convenient way of supplementing with psyllium!
Where to find Psyllium Husks:
Psyllium Husks derive from the seed of the Plantago Ovata plant, which is found throughout Europe, Africa and Asia.
Psyllium Husks are also known as:
Psyllium, Psyllium Husk Powder, Psyllium Fibre, Plantago Ovata.
Why use Psyllium Husks?
As a nutritional supplement, psyllium husks will not directly improve performance. Nevertheless, their high fibre content will help ensure a healthy body, which is essential if we are to perform to our optimal capabilities.
Why use Psyllium Husks?
Relieve Constipation — Due to its high fibre content, psyllium husks are an effective remedy for constipation. When taken with lots of water, the husks swell and increase the peristalsis action of the intestines, which consequently promotes the flow of bowel matter. To this extent, psyllium husks are seen as ‘nature’s laxative’.
Contribute to Weight Loss — As per the above, when taken with plenty of water, psyllium husks swell in size. This causes a feeling of fullness and thus serves to reduce appetite in the user.
Psyllium husks have also been shown to promote a number of other benefits, which include; maintaining stable blood sugar levels, lowering cholesterol levels, bowel and colon cleansing and improving the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
