What is Milk Protein Concentrate 85%?
BP Basics Milk Protein Concentrate 85% (MPC85) is produced from skimmed milk, by a combination of processes including ultrafiltration, diafiltration, evaporation and drying; all of which are performed at low temperatures to prevent denaturing. These processes reduce the milk to just casein and whey protein fractions, giving MPC its unique composition.
Most other Milk Protein products range from 40% to 80% protein, however BP Basics MPC is an incredible, market-leading 85% protein! Furthermore this product is instantised to ensure easy mixing, is low in lactose, has a great amino acid profile, has no additives and is a great source of calcium.

Why use Milk Protein Concentrate?
MPC is comprised of both whey protein and casein. Whey protein is absorbed very quickly by the body which is ideal for when you need it instantly such as after exercise. Casein is at the other end of the spectrum and absorbs very slowly, making it perfect for before bed. You could say that Milk Protein Concentrate combines the best of both worlds as it is comprised of both these types of protein. This makes it an ideal choice for between meals when you want something that absorbs slower than whey, but faster than casein.
MPC also makes an ideal pre-bed protein supplement (although calcium caseinate would be the preferred choice) due to the fact that there is a higher percentage of casein fractions than whey fractions. This helps prevent catabolism (muscle loss) during sleep, when the body is normally being starved of protein.
MPC is naturally high in Branch Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs) and has an excellent overall amino acid profile. Amino Acids have a wide range of benefits ranging from building muscle to improving recovery after exercise.

Serving Size & Timing
BP Basics Milk Protein Concentrate 85% is best taken before bed, and/or between meals, due to its slow absorbtion. We would recommend taking 30g 1-3 times daily depending on your protein requirements. For muscle growth you should try to consume approximately 3g of protein per kg of bodyweight. You can mix MPC with water, milk or a beverage of your choice.
Synergists
Milk Protein Concentrate can just be supplemented on its own, however if you are supplementing with it pre-bed then you could look at combining it with some Essential Fatty Acids to further slow absorbtion.
Safety
MPC is derived from skimmed milk, so there are no safety issues whatsoever with this product.
Toxicity
There is no known toxicity of Milk Protein Concentrate.
